Who We Are

Now In A Minute Ltd (company number 10442177, registered in England and Wales) controls the personal data described below. Our registered office is 68 Andrews Road, Cardiff, Wales, CF14 2JP. Email privacy@bookienearme.co.uk.

Names Taken From the Public Register

This directory is built from the Gambling Commission's public register of premises licences, published under the Open Government Licence. Most licences are held by companies. Some are held in a person's own name, and a page built straight from the register would print that name as though it were a shop's trading name.

So the build tests every licensee name and withholds the ones that read as a personal name — 8 of them, across 14 published premises. Those listings read Independent bookmaker instead. The licensee's name stays in the register itself, which is where it is published.

The test is the spelling of the name, not a register field. The register does not record which licensees are individuals, so there is no field to read. That means the test errs towards withholding: a trading name shaped like a person's name is withheld too, and two of the names above are businesses rather than people. We would rather hide a company's name by mistake than publish somebody's.

Lawful basis: legitimate interests — publishing an accurate, complete directory of licensed premises. We balanced that against the interests of the individuals concerned, which is why the names are suppressed in the interface rather than reproduced. Source: the Gambling Commission premises licence register. You can object to us processing your name at all: email us and we will remove your premises' page.

If You Report a Problem With a Listing

The form at report a problem stores what you wrote, the shop it refers to, the date, an email address if you choose to give one, a one-way hash of your IP address and the first 300 characters of your browser's User-Agent string.

The email is used only to come back to you about that report. The IP hash and the User-Agent exist to rate-limit submissions and spot floods: the address itself is never stored. Lawful basis: legitimate interests in keeping the directory accurate and the form usable. Retention: after 24 months what you wrote, your email, the IP hash and the User-Agent are erased. A line saying a report was made about that shop, and any correction it led to, is kept — a published correction has to stay traceable to the thing that caused it. Recipients: nobody. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes the request in order to serve it.

If You Write to Us as an Operator

The form at for bookmakers stores your company, your name, your email, your message and a one-way hash of your IP address, on the same basis. After 24 months that record is deleted outright, not just stripped: nothing on a public page depends on it.

Our Change Log

Either form also writes one line to an internal change log, so a correction that reaches a page can always be traced back to what caused it. That line holds the date, the identifier of the submission and which shop it concerned. It holds no name, no company, no email, no message text and no IP hash. The log is append-only and is not erased on the 24-month cycle, which is exactly why nothing personal is written into it.

Location

Using Use my location is optional, and you can search by postcode or town instead. Your coordinates are used in your browser and are never sent to us or stored anywhere. How location works here, in full.

Our Crawler

Where an operator publishes shop opening hours on its own public shop finder, we read them, name the publisher on the page with the date we read them, and expire them. How the crawler behaves, and how to stop it — email us and we will stop and delete.

Your Rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, and object to us using it at all. Because our lawful basis is legitimate interests rather than consent, the right to object is the one most likely to matter here, and we will act on it. Email privacy@bookienearme.co.uk and we will reply within one month.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or call 0303 123 1113. You can complain to them without contacting us first.
